In many companies, competent property managers are hampered by a lack of adequate support staff. An office that has an inadequate support staff can cause delays in client statements and reports, and possibly, a lack of sufficient attention to problems at the property.

When a new property is acquired, the Principal Broker, the Broker, and the Property Accountant tour the project to introduce themselves to the tenants. We include the support staff in on-site visits and inspections to become familiar with the physical and administrative features of the project.

  President & Principal Broker - Mariann M. Deering
Mariann Deering has over 27 years of experience in the commercial real estate field and will oversee all aspects of projects. She can, for example, be called upon to establish and implement a marketing plan, which includes supervision of leasing agents, if requested. She is responsible for tenant and client contact, and will ensure the orderly implementation of the owner's policies and directives. She will supervise all service contractors, and if called upon, tenant improvements and other capital projects. Mariann also implements the budgeting, planning, and is responsible for overall administration. Mariann started Deering Management Group 17 years ago, and is licensed in Oregon and Washington.
 
  Vice President & Broker - Walter E. Rivers, CPM
Walt Rivers has over 35 years of industry experience in property management, sales and leasing. He attained the Certified Property Manager professional designation in 1985 and holds real estate broker's licenses in Oregon and Washington. Walt has worked with local, regional and national firms and successfully operated his own commercial office in Denver for five and one half years. Walt is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the projects, tenant relations, vendor supervision, budget compliance and owner communication. He provides backup for the other managers and handles special projects for the organization. Walt has been part of the Deering team for approximately 10 years.
 
  Vice President, Accounting - Joni Mariman, RPA
Joni Mariman is responsible for preparing the monthly financial statements, tracking all tenant invoicing and receipts, paying all bills in a timely manner, and keeping track of common area maintenance and other expenses for future reconciliation. She is responsible for the bulk of the monthly reporting requirements for the asset. She will also complete all year-end reporting requirements, such as preparing 1099's or adjustments prepared by a CPA. Joni has been part of the Deering team for approximately 15 years.
 
  Broker - Wendie C. Billings, CPM, RPA
Wendie Billings has over 18 years of commercial property and construction management experience with companies such as Colliers International, RREEF, Unico Properties and Benaroya Capital Company. She has managed a diverse portfolio including historical, Class A high rise, industrial and retail centers, and has an extensive background in environmental issues and management thereof. Wendie has earned her Real Property Administrator (RPA) and Certified Property Manager (CPM) designations, and is licensed in both Oregon and Washington. She has been part of the Deering team for approximately 5 years.
 
  Broker - James Knepler, FMA, RPA
James Knepler has over 28 years of commercial property management experience with organizations such as the General Services Administration and the U.S. Marine Corps.  He has managed diverse portfolios of office, medical and industrial properties.  Jim is a certified Real Property Administrator (RPA), Facilities Management Administrator (FMA), a licensed Real Estate Salesman in California, and a Broker in Oregon. He has been part of the Deering team for approximately 5 years.
 
  Principal Broker - Tracy Theabolt
Tracy Theabolt has over 9 years of real estate and property management experience. Her portfolio includes office, medical and retail properties throughout Oregon. She is instrumental in organizing due diligence documents and setting up new property systems and procedures. Tracy has been part of the Deering team for approximately 5 years.
 
  Assistant Property Manager - Carole Woodruff
Carole Woodruff has years of experience in the commercial real estate field assisting brokers and managers in overseeing large and small portfolios. She assists Wendie Billings and Mariann Deering, and is currently working on obtaining her brokers license in the state of Oregon.
 
  Administrative Assistant/Special Projects - Lindsay Ronfeld
Lindsay Ronfeld is an experienced administrator and is responsible for maintaining accurate, detailed records on each property. She is also instrumental in verifying the accuracy of the budgets, reconciliations and percentage rents. Lindsay has been part of the Deering team for approximately 10 years.
 
  Administrative Assistant/Maintenance Supervisor - Alisa Smith
Alisa Smith coordinates all maintenance requests from tenants, schedules contractors, and follows the project to its completion. She is responsible for informing the tenants of future action and ensuring the repair is completed on time and to the tenant's satisfaction. Alisa is involved with all of the managers in the day-to-day operation of each property. She has been part of the Deering team for approximately 7 years.
 
  Executive Assistant - Katie Owens
Katie Owens assists the Principal Broker/President with the oversight of her portfolio, general administration and special projects. She also handles tenant, vendor and routine maintenance calls and interfaces with the tenants and owners.
 
  Administrative Assistant - Anya Black
Anya Black handles tenant, vendor and routine maintenance calls and interfaces with the tenants and owners.  She produces the monthly owners' reports and assists the real estate managers with general administration. Anya has been part of the Deering Team for approximately 4 years.
 
  Administrative Support - Amy Einstein
Amy Einstein provides backup for all of the departments within the organization. She comes with a background in marketing and customer service. Her attitude, accuracy and ability to handle daily tasks and special projects has made her invaluable to managers and department supervisors.
 
  Property Accountant - Annette Hufford
Annette Hufford aids Joni Mariman in all aspects of her work and manages the Accounting Department in Joni's absence. Her responsibilities include processing all accounts payable/receivable, tenant invoicing and monthly financial reporting. Annette's efficiency and organizational skills have made her an integral part of the Deering team for the past 7 years.
 
  Property Accountant - Selma Goetz
Selma Goetz also aids the accounting department in all aspects. She has over 21 years of accounting experience. Her responsibilities run parallel to those listed above. Selma has been a part of the Deering team for approximately 2 years.
 
  Assistant Property Accountant/Insurance Specialist - Lisa Basta
Lisa Basta assists the Vice President of Accounting and Property Accountants with daily activities. She prepares daily deposits, maintains accounting records and provides general accounting and office support. Lisa also works with both vendors and tenants to ensure we have correct up-to-date insurance certificates for all our properties and clients and is responsible for maintaining the insurance certificate database. She has been part of the Deering team for approximately 2 years.
 
  Facilities Specialist/Maintenance Technician - Josh Haynes
Josh Haynes has recently taken on a more administrative role with the oversight of his existing portfolio of office, medical and retail properties. Josh is currently working on his LEED certification to work toward more sustainable building practices on his portfolio. He has been a part of the Deering team for approximately 3 years.
 
  Maintenance Technician - Brian Lee
Brian Lee has owned his own construction business for the past 5 years and has over 10 years experience in the construction industry. He is a licensed General Contractor and his experience in the construction industry has given him a broad base of building expertise, making him a valued member of our team. Brian assists the organization in training new technicians and with OSHA compliance awareness. Brian has been part of the Deering team for approximately 3 years.
 
  Maintenance Technician - Ryan Crowley
Ryan Crowley is new to real estate maintenance, but not to the customer service industry. His personal concern with all of our projects has added to the depth of our services.
